안녕하세요! 저는 지난 6월 9일부터 21일까지 에즈마이야 사역을 위해 케냐에 다녀왔습니다! 한국에서 두바이까지 9시간, 두바이에서 케냐까지 5시간, 총 14시간의 비행 끝에 지구 반대편 케냐에 도착했습니다. 가는 동안 설렘과 두려움이 교차했지만, 새로운 경험이 기대되었습니다.
Hello everyone! I traveled to Kenya for Ezemiah from June 9th to the 21st! After a 14-hour journey, including a 9-hour flight from Korea to Dubai and another 5-hour flight from Dubai to Kenya, I arrived on the opposite side of the globe in Kenya. I felt a mix of excitement and apprehension during the journey, but I was looking forward to the new experiences ahead.
<에즈마이야란?>
에즈마이야(Ezemiah)는 구약 성경의 에스라(Ezra)와 느헤미야(Nehemiah)의 이름을 결합한 것으로, 이 두 예언자는 유대인을 바빌론과 페르시아의 포로 생활에서 해방시켜 고향으로 돌아오게 한 지도자들입니다. 2006년 한국에서 시작된 에즈마이야 운동은 전 세계 한인 디아스포라가 한국으로 돌아와 하나님의 말씀을 가르치고 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전파하여 다음 세대의 영성을 재건하고자 합니다.
미국에 기반을 둔 에즈마이야 글로벌(Ezemiah Global)은 이러한 비전을 실현하기 위해 설립되었습니다. 이 사역은 다음 세대의 에스라와 느헤미야를 양성하고, 그들이 한국뿐만 아니라 다양한 문화와 국가에서 사역할 수 있도록 훈련하고 파송합니다. 이를 통해 하나님의 예배 문화가 전 세계적으로 확산되기를 기대하고 있습니다.
Ezemiah is named after the Old Testament prophets Ezra and Nehemiah, who led the Jewish people out of captivity in Babylon and Persia back to their homeland. Started in South Korea in 2006, the Ezemiah movement aims to rebuild the spirituality of the next generation by encouraging the global Korean diaspora to return to Korea, teach the Word of God, and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Based in the United States, Ezemiah Global was founded to fulfill this vision. It trains and sends out the next generation of Ezras and Nehemiahs to minister not only in Korea but across diverse cultures and nations. Through this effort, Ezemiah Global hopes to spread God's worship culture worldwide.

LELE CHRISTIAN PRIMARY SCHOOL (렐레 기독 초등학교)
Lele 초등학교는 조모 케냐타 공항(나이로비 국제공항)에서 약 1시간 30분 거리에 위치해 있어요. 이 학교는 유치부부터 8학년까지 학생들이 다니고 있으며, 학교의 모토는 "WITH GOD WE CAN EXCEL"로, 하나님과 함께라면 우리는 뛰어날 수 있다는 뜻입니다. 교사는 약 12명, 학생 수는 약 250명 정도 됩니다.
Lele Elementary School is located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. The school caters to students from kindergarten through 8th grade, with a motto of "WITH GOD WE CAN EXCEL," emphasizing the belief that with God, we can achieve excellence. It has around 12 teachers and a student body of approximately 250 students.
VBS : "God is King!" & "Purity is Power!"
에즈마이야 VBS는 유치부부터 4학년까지 저학년 3일, 5학년부터 8학년까지 고학년 3일, 총 6일 동안 진행되었습니다. 이번 에즈마이야의 주제는 "Purity is Power!"로, 아이들에게 "거룩이 힘이야!"라고 외치며 하나님만이 우리의 진정한 왕임을 연극을 통해 성경 이야기를 전했습니다. 특히 레위나 사울이 세상 물건을 사랑할 때 아이들이 "God is King!"을 외치는 모습이 인상 깊었습니다.
Ezemiah VBS (Vacation Bible School) ran for a total of 6 days, with younger children (kindergarten to 4th grade) attending for 3 days and older children (5th to 8th grade) for another 3 days. The theme for this Ezemiah session was "Purity is Power!" where children proclaimed "Purity is Power!" and learned through biblical dramas that only God is our true King. Particularly memorable was seeing the children shout "God is King!" when learning about how Levi and Saul loved worldly possessions.
집주인 이야기 Grateful for Our Landlord: A Story of Hospitality
저희가 머물렀던 숙소는 생각보다 너무(X1000000) 훌륭한 곳이었어요! 이번에 한국 사람들이 온다고 해서 특별히 부지사(Deputy governer)님께서 집을 내어주셨습니다. 숙소에 머무른 지 3일째 되던 날, 부지사 마틴(Martin)이 집에 찾아와서 인사하셨어요. 놀랍게도 마틴도 Lele 학교 출신이었고, 어릴 적 한국의 지원을 받아 성장했다고 말씀하셨습니다. 한국의 펀드레이징을 통해 공부를 지원받았다고 감사한 마음을 전하며 여기를 우리 집처럼 사용하라고 하셨어요. 이를 통해 우리 윗세대의 헌신이 얼마나 큰 영향을 미치는지 깨달았고, 이제는 우리에게도 이러한 사랑이 돌아오는 것에 대해 하나님께 감사드리며, 먼저 선교하신 분들께도 감사한 마음이 들었습니다. 너무 감동적이에요!
The accommodation we stayed at was beyond amazing! For this visit, Deputy Governor graciously opened his home for us upon hearing that Koreans were coming. On the third day of our stay, Deputy Governor Martin came by to greet us. Surprisingly, Martin is also an alumnus of Lele School and shared how he received support from Korea during his childhood. He expressed gratitude for the education he received through Korean fundraising efforts and encouraged us to make ourselves at home here. This experience made me realize the profound impact of previous generations' dedication and filled me with gratitude to God for the love that now returns to us. I'm also thankful to the missionaries who paved the way. It was truly touching!
케냐 아이들에게 받은 사랑 - Love Received from Kenyan Children: A Journey of Heartfelt Connections
케냐에서 가장 잊지 못할 경험은 바로 아이들로부터 받은 사랑입니다. 처음에는 아이들이 제 머리카락을 계속 만지는 것이 좀 불편했어요. 그런데 나중에는 그들이 저에게 관심을 보이고 다가와 주는 방식이라는 것을 알게 되었어요. 그래서 둘째 날부터는 그냥 아이들이 만지도록 허락해주고, 예쁘게 땋아달라고 하기도 했습니다. 6일 동안 아이들과 함께하면서 정말 많은 사랑을 느꼈는데, 마지막 날에는 아이들이 "Bini, 보고 싶을 거야!", "사랑해!"라고 말하며 안아주고, 그들이 소중히 하던 팔찌까지 선물해 준 모습에 정말 마음이 찡했어요. 정말로 꼭 다시 가 고 싶네요.
One of the most unforgettable experiences in Kenya was the love I received from the children. At first, it was a bit uncomfortable when they kept touching my hair. However, I later realized it was their way of showing interest and reaching out to me. So, from the second day onwards, I simply allowed the children to touch my hair and even asked them to braid it nicely at times. Throughout the 6 days I spent with them, I truly felt a lot of love. On the last day, hearing the children say, "Bini, I will miss you!" and "I love you!" as they hugged me and gave me the bracelets they cherished deeply touched my heart. I really hope to go back again someday.
케냐에서 느낀 비전
"Level 5, Show the world that God is King!"
아이들이 Level 5를 외칠 때, 나중에 이 아이들이 한국으로 선교를 올 수 있겠구나 느꼈습니다. 현재 한국은 점점 더 어려워지고 있는 것 같아요. 한국 청년으로서 한국을 보면 취업과 사회 생활이 어렵고 미래가 불투명하며 정신적으로도 힘든 상황이 많아요. 이에 반해 케냐 아이들은 맑고 깨끗한 꿈을 키우고 있습니다. 한국보다 경제적으로 힘든 환경에서도 불구하고, 아이들은 삶에 대한 열정과 의지를 보여줍니다. 한국은 5~10분거리에 있는 학교도 가기 싫어서 불평이 많은데 케냐 학생들은 학교에 가기 위해 1~2시간을 걸어갔습니다. 이 모습을 보며 오히려 케냐 아이들이 더 나은 삶을 산다고 느꼈습니다. 우리 한국 학생들도 작지만 소중한 것들에 감사하며 행복을 느낄 수 있기를 바랍니다. 그래서 저는 케냐 사람들이 한국에 오셔서 하나님의 사랑을 전하고 진정한 행복을 느끼는 삶을 살 수 있는 방법을 알려주는 그 날이 오길 기대하게 되었습니다. 그날까지 저는 꾸준히 케냐를 위해 기도하며 기회가 되는 대로 또 방문하도록 하겠습니다.
When the children shouted Level 5, I felt these kids could one day come to Korea for missions. Korea seems to be getting tougher these days. As a Korean youth, I see challenges in finding employment, navigating social life, and facing an uncertain future, which can be mentally taxing. In contrast, Kenyan children are nurturing clear and pure dreams. Despite economic hardships worse than Korea’s, these children display passion and determination for life. While Korean students often complain about walking 5-10 minutes to school, Kenyan students walk 1-2 hours just to attend classes. Witnessing this, I felt Kenyan children lead better lives in their own way. I hope Korean students can also appreciate and find happiness in the small but precious things. Therefore, I look forward to the day when Kenyan people come to Korea to share God's love and teach how to live a truly fulfilling life. Until then, I will continue to pray for Kenya and seize every opportunity to visit again.
